Here’s a news story about the Claremont Canyon owl (and her owlets) who we saw hiking in Berkeley. Not only did this nature event semi-inspire this tattoo, but it features “(wo)man on the street” testimony from our friend Jessica Parkupuncture!

Ink Stories 1: Daniel Ronson
Posted: May 16, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »Whether or not you have tattoos, Ink Stories — a new series of documentary shorts about tattoo artists and those inspired by the aesthetic, should still definitely interest you. In the first episode of the series, we’re introduced to Daniel “Ronnie” Ronson, a young squire apprenticing to learn the art and business of professional tattooing at London’s Jayne Doe, while honing his own unique art style. Like many tattoo artists before him, Ronson’s burden is simply “trying to make something your own, that’s already been done.”

RIP MCA of the Beastie Boys dead at 47
Posted: May 4, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »
“Beastie Boys” rapper MCA – real name Adam Yauch – has died.
In 2009, MCA announced he was being treated for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node (below). He has since undergone surgery and radiation therapy.
So far, it’s not clear if the death is related to the rapper’s battle with cancer.
Russell Simmons‘ website GlobalGrind.com first reported the death. We have spoken to people independently connected to the rapper who also say he is dead.
Below is the Beasties last video “Make Some Noise” featuring A-listers, including Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson, Amy Poehler, Steve Buscemi, Kirsten Dunst, Zach Galifianakis, Orlando Bloom, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, and Jack Black.
